New “Empty Pew Saturday Crew”!
Starting June 4, 2016, we will offer a variety of service opportunities on the first Saturday of each month. Check out the #EPP bulletin board at the church for the latest updates, or email us at email@example.com.
May 2016 Update:
This year’s #EmptyPewProject week of service involved nearly 200 North Avenue attendees (and some friends!), serving a variety of community agencies. The week culminated on May 1 with our all-church “Empty the Pews” service day at Leila Arboretum. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve, as well as for all who participated in these projects. A big thanks as well to our Outreach Team, headed up by Lori Rupe, for coordinating this event and other projects throughout the year!
August 2015 Update:
Our 5th-8th graders attending VBS extended the #emptypewproject with a week of service to several community organizations, including CityLinC, SAFE Place, Harper Creek Schools, Calhoun Christian School, Battle Creek Public Schools, and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. Check out the photos below to see some of the work they did–we hope you’re inspired to keep serving!
A huge thank you to all who came out and supported the #emptypewproject. A special thank you to Lori Rupe for all of her hard work organizing the projects, and to many others who took charge and made them work. It is our sincere hope that serving becomes the new norm, and that the #emptypewproject will be back bigger than ever next year! In the meantime, be sure and find some ways to serve, and share them on our facebook page with the #emptypewproject hashtag. THANK YOU FOR SERVING WITH US!
