Thank you for showing interest in the North Avenue Church of God. We have compiled some links and information on this page that we hope will help you as you learn more about us. We are so excited that you are here, and want to answer any questions that you might have.
Where do I start?
The best way to get started at North Avenue is to show up. Our service times are listed on the right side of most of the pages on this site, and we would love to have you come and worship with us. If you need directions to the church, you can find them on our Contact page, along with all of our other contact information, and a link to Google Maps.
We have two parking lots at North, so if you don’t find a spot in the upper parking lot (closest to Morgan Road), please follow the signs down the hill to the lower parking lot. There is an entrance to the church clearly marked near both lots. The main entrance with the drive-under canopy is our best option for those who have special needs, or difficulty with stairs, and there are handicapped parking spaces clearly marked. We also have some spaces reserved for visitors AND for families with infants, so be sure and look for them. If you come in the entrance from the lower lot, you will find signs that direct you up the steps to the children’s ministry area and the Sanctuary. Our Welcome Center is located right outside of the Sanctuary and there should always be someone there who can answer your questions.
Is North Avenue accessible to people with limited mobility?
Yes! As already stated, the best entrance for people who have limited mobility is the main entrance at the upper parking lot. We have an elevator for those who need it, and easy access to barrier free restrooms. There is also a family bathroom that provides privacy for those who need someone to assist them, or for families with small children who need assistance.
Are my kids welcome at North Avenue?
Absolutely! Kids have always been a high priority here at North. Our children’s area is in the lower level of the church, and we use a check-in system for everyone under 5th grade so that we can be sure that your kids are safe and cared for.
When you enter the lobby, you will see a sign and a yellow line that will lead you to the check-in area. For kids under the age of 2, we have a nursery that operates under the same standards as the nursery for our licensed daycare. Babies need to be checked in as well, so that we can learn about them and their needs, before you leave to participate in worship. There are special programs and activities for kids (Click here to go to our Children’s Ministry Page for more details), but kids are also welcome in our worship services.
We also have an active youth program for Junior and Senior high youth. You can check the Youth Ministry Page to find out more, or contact our Youth pastor, Jim Sirks at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What should I wear to North Avenue?
Whatever you would like, and is comfortable for you. We believe that God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts than the clothes on our backs. The obvious exception would be clothing that is clearly out of place in any public building; for example a swimsuit or your PJ’s.
We hope that this is enough information to get you started. If you would like to explore more about what we believe, and how we operate, feel free to visit the “About Us” links in the main menu. If you still don’t find what you are looking for, please call the church office or email us at email@example.com
